Daylilies Are Now Shipping
We started shipping our first Daylily orders this past weekend, so now is the time to visit our Painted Acres Farm website and pick a few favorites to add to your gardens. Whether you like the smaller blooms of Stella D'Oro or the giant blooms of Lilac Landscape Supreme, Daylilies are a beautiful way to welcome summer. Their individual blooms last only a day, but they produce so many blooms, and over such a long season, that they have become indispensible in modern landscapes. Choose from among our many award winning varieties for just the right touch of color in your garden. Be on the Lookout!
Any day now the Dwarf Bearded Iris varieties will begin blooming! The Dwarf varieties are the beginning of a long season of Bearded Iris blooms, extending into early June for us. We look for the first ones to bloom between the 1st to 15th of April in northwest Missouri - maybe earlier on extra warm years. Watch for them when you see daffodils or forsythia in bloom! Next up will be the Border Bearded, then Intermediate Bearded, with the Tall Bearded finishing up in May and June. Mature FlowersWhen your plants become mature clumps, they need you to divide them. Daylilies and Hosta are best divided in the spring of the year, while Bearded Iris and Peony do best in late summer or fall.
